Uniden is set to revolutionise the way consumers charge their gadgets with the introduction of the Wireless Power Series – Australia’s first Wireless Power Pad and accessories. Ideal for charging mobile phones, bluetooth headsets, portable GPS systems and many other mobile devices, the Wireless Power Pad has been touted as one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the year. Compatible with over 600 devices, a single Uniden Wireless Power Pad can charge up to five devices simultaneously.
"These days we all rely on a multitude of mobile devices – whether we are out and about with work or backpacking around the world. Unfortunately, this means we have to rely on an unwieldy collection of charging cords and batteries as well," said Uniden Senior National Marketing Executive Brad Hales
"Making life easier through the creation of innovative wireless products has always been the focus at Uniden and now with the introduction of the Wireless Power Series, recharging is now as easy as drop and charge, grab and go. A single Uniden Wireless Power Pad placed on the kitchen counter or desk can possibly charge a whole family’s mobile phones overnight."
Wireless power pads work by employing conductive charging. The pad is instantaneously activated when metal-on-metal contact occurs between the pad and a supplied sleeve.
Completely safe, the direct metal-on-metal contact allows for a very efficient and secure power transfer without generating harmful radiation, microwaves or magnetic fields. The pad itself is so thin that it can blend into any living environment and eliminates the needs for multiple cords which would normally clutter the home or office.

Sydney, 29 January 2010: World leader in cordless phone technology, Uniden, has just set out to prove that home phones can deliver quality sound over longer distances than ever before possible – in this case, more than two kilometres!
Determined to demonstrate the signal clarity of the new XDECT R Series, Australia’s first genuine long range and maximum coverage cordless phones, Uniden executives set up a conference phone call with one caller stationed on the sand at Bondi and another caller located at the southern end of Bronte Beach.
While your average home phone user isn’t likely to call mates from their beachfront hang-out located more than a kilometre from the main phone base, many users do appreciate the portability of their cordless phone and the flexibility to make calls from anywhere around their home without interference. According to Brad Hales, Senior National Marketing Executive, Uniden Australia “With the arrival of XDECT R Series, people who live in large houses or farms, for example, are now able to pop their cordless handset in their pocket and enjoy call clarity - whether they are calling from the backyard swimming pool or the back paddock shed” Conducted on 19 January, the Uniden test utilised an XDECT R055+2 consisting of a main base and two handsets, plus four additional XDECT R005 cordless handsets.
Starting from Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach, the talking range extended 2.2 kilometres to the southern end of Bronte Beach, also providing coverage to the other handsets spread throughout the hilly urban terrain in between.
This unprecedented range was made possible through Uniden’s world-first design which sees repeater stations incorporated into the charging base of each individual handset. Each time additional handsets are added to the system, the built-in repeater stations allow them to act as transmission points, re-transmitting the signal from the main base and extending its range even further. click here to see the test
Uniden is set to revolutionise the cordless phone market with the introduction of Australia’s first genuine long range and maximum coverage repeater cordless phones, the XDECT R Series.
Utilising repeater stations that communicate with the main phone base, the XDECT R Series offers unrivalled talking range, the likes of which have never before been possible. Each time additional repeater stations are added to the system they act as transmission points so that the signal can be re-transmitted even further distances, dramatically improving talking range and coverage. Uniden’s senior national marketing executive Brad Hales explains.
“Repeater stations are built into the charging base of each additional handset. When three charging bases are positioned in a straight line away from the main base, the result is four times more talking range. Adding another three charging bases in the opposite direction extends the reach even further. So, in total, up to eight times the talking range can be achieved.”
According to Hales, the XDECT R Series demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation and represents a genuine ‘first’. “As market leader, we invest heavily in research and development to create innovative telecommunications solutions that are a step ahead of the game. We are extremely proud of the XDECT R Series as it offers something nothing else in the market can - unprecedented range.” While particularly suitable for larger properties, multi-level homes, farms, factories and other commercial applications, Hales anticipates the XDECT R Series will be a popular choice for any customer seeking the ultimate solution to reception issues around the home. The feature set also makes these phones ideal for small business owners.
“With the capability to operate a second line, the XDECT R Series is ideal for people working from home who may want one phone line for home use and one for business use or potentially VoIP applications. Business users will also benefit from Intercom/Announce Call Transfer functionality and the Handset Conferencing facility which enables up to seven callers to communicate together.”

As consumer demand for the latest GPS applications continues, Uniden has reaffirmed its commitment to the car navigation category with two new additions to its popular TRAX Series. Featuring an expansive 5” flat panel non-reflective LCD screen - among the largest available - the new top-of-the-line TRAX 5000 offers next generation 3D mapping technology to provide drivers with the most realistic navigation experience currently on the market.
With 360 Degree 3D Landmark technology enabling famous locations such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Queen Victoria Building and Sky Tower to be viewed in 3D from any angle, the TRAX 5000 takes it a step further incorporating new 360 degree 3D City Maps technology which makes it possible to virtually view entire city blocks and identify key areas of interest. New 3D Terrain Software, which shows road elevations and land contours including overpasses and bridges, is another key feature. Designed for drivers who demand exceptionally user-friendly high-quality car navigation systems, the new TRAX 5000 also utilises Advanced Lane Guidance and Signpost Information which visually indicates the most appropriate lane to use – a particularly useful feature in Australia’s busy metropolises where early lane changes can significantly reduce stress and danger.
According to Brad Hales, Senior National Marketing Executive, Uniden Australia, the new TRAX devices will assist Uniden in taking hold of a bigger piece of market share. “The TRAX range launched in 2008 was instrumental in making Uniden a trusted brand in a category which is increasingly being joined by low quality imitators. As recently as June, Wheels magazine named the TRAX 436 the top performer in a comparative review and APC (Australian Personal Computer) magazine continues to include the TRAX 430 in its ‘Best Tech’ section month after month,” he said.“We were the first manufacturer to offer 360 degree 3D technology and with the latest TRAX releases we are taking it a step further. We are confident these new devices will bring further strength to our position in this competitive market category.”

Market leader Uniden is set to raise the benchmark in the cordless phone category once again with the introduction of break-through technology that will enable its new XDECT phones to reach corners other can’t. The XDECT 7000 Series features a Diversity and High Gain Antenna System to provide unprecedented coverage and optimal reception clarity, effectively eliminating drop out areas around the home. Uniden’s senior national marketing executive, Brad Hales, explains how the advanced technology works.
“When there is not a clear line-of-sight between the phone base and the handset, a signal can be reflected along multiple paths before being finally received. Uniden’s Diversity Antenna System is able to transmit multiple signals for maximum coverage, choosing the best and clearest signal for optimal clarity and reception.” Engineered specifically to meet Australian conditions, the new XDECT 7000 Series operate on the Wireless Network Friendly 1.8GHz frequency, making them ideal for high-density urban living as they will not interfere with other wireless networks in the surrounding area. The XDECT 7000 Series other stand-out features are aimed at providing the user with enhanced control over incoming phone calls. Through activation of a new Call Block feature - a cordless phone first - unwelcome or nuisance calls can be diverted to an engaged signal, answering machine message or simply dismissed by automatically hanging up on the caller. In addition, the integrated digital answering machine offers a Do Not Disturb function, allowing the ringer on the handset and the base to be muted at once. For easier caller identification, the XDECT 7000 Series also enables the user to allocate polyphonic ringtones to individual callers in addition to displaying caller ID.
